Recovering from injury is about more than reducing pain. It requires understanding why the problem developed, how it's changed the way you move, and what it will actually take to get you back to golf, sport or everyday life with confidence. That thinking underpins every assessment, every rehabilitation program and every patient interaction at Melbourne Golf Physio.
A Career Built on Elite Sport and Evidence-Based Care
Bethany founded Melbourne Golf Physio in Brighton, in the heart of Melbourne's Sandbelt, to give golfers access to expert, evidence-based physiotherapy built specifically around their sport. With more than 14 years of clinical experience spanning private practice, elite sport and advanced orthopaedic rehabilitation, she brings a rare combination of clinical depth and genuine understanding of what golf demands of the body.
As a former international athlete and multiple national champion, Bethany has lived through the physical and mental grind of injury recovery herself. That experience shapes an approach that goes beyond pain relief. It's about rebuilding confidence, restoring proper movement, and developing the strength and resilience needed for recovery that actually lasts.
Before establishing Melbourne Golf Physio, Bethany worked alongside orthopaedic surgeons in the United Kingdom, managing complex musculoskeletal injuries and post-operative rehabilitation. In 2017, she authored several evidence-based fracture rehabilitation protocols still used today across multiple UK Teaching Hospitals and Major Trauma Centres, work that sharpened her instinct for structured, collaborative, outcome-focused care.
Every patient starts with a comprehensive assessment built around their goals, lifestyle and the physical demands of what they want to get back to. Where it's clinically relevant, Bethany draws on golf-specific movement screening, research-grade VALD technology and detailed musculoskeletal assessment to pinpoint exactly what's driving pain, limiting performance or increasing injury risk. That precision is what makes the rehabilitation that follows genuinely targeted rather than generic.
While golf performance is Melbourne Golf Physio's clinical focus, Bethany treats the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions across all sports: shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand injuries, neck and back pain, hip, knee, foot and ankle conditions, sporting injuries and post-operative rehabilitation. Whether you're working your way back to golf, recovering after surgery, or just trying to move through your day without pain, every program is built around you specifically, not a standard protocol.
Our Values
The principles that guide every assessment, treatment and recovery
Evidence-Based Care
Every treatment plan is guided by current research, clinical experience and objective assessment data, not guesswork. Ongoing professional development and collaboration with leading healthcare professionals keep that standard current.
Education & Empowerment
Understanding your injury is part of recovering from it. Bethany explains your diagnosis, what's contributing to your symptoms, and why each stage of your rehabilitation matters, so you're an active participant in your own recovery, not just a passenger.
Personalised Rehabilitation
No two golfers, and no two injuries, are the same. Every assessment and program is shaped around your specific goals, lifestyle and physical demands.
Lasting Results
The goal isn't just pain relief. By addressing the underlying cause of your symptoms, treatment is designed to restore movement, build strength and resilience, and support your long-term performance and enjoyment of the game.
Who Bethany Works With
Bethany treats competitive and professional golfers seeking a performance edge, hobby golfers who want to play without pain, women in golf, and clients referred by local orthopaedic surgeons, sports doctors, GPs and golf professional. She also works with anyone recovering from a general musculoskeletal injury, whether or not golf is part of the picture.
