Many golfers complete around 6–10 appointments as part of their rehabilitation, although this can vary significantly depending on your injury, history, progress and rehabilitation goals. We’ll discuss what’s appropriate for you and adjust your plan as you progress.
If you’re working towards a specific event, return-to-golf milestone, off-season performance goal or longer-term rehabilitation, we can also structure your consultations into a program tailored to your goals and timeline.

Our Semi-Private Golf Mobility, Strength & Performance Program is designed to help you build a stronger, more capable body for golf — whether you’re returning from injury, struggling with physical restrictions in your swing, losing strength over 18 holes, or looking to improve your golf performance.
With a maximum of just two golfers per session, you’ll follow an individualised, physiotherapy-led program built around your body, your golf and your goals.
Your program runs over four or eight weeks, building the consistency needed to make meaningful improvements in your strength, mobility, injury rehabilitation and physical performance for golf.
Three levels. One goal: helping your body perform better for golf.
Golf Mobility
For golfers who feel stiff, restricted or unable to comfortably access the movements their golf swing requires. We work on golf-specific mobility alongside balance, control and foundational strength — helping you move more confidently both on and off the course.
Golf Strength
Build the strength and physical capacity needed to tolerate the demands of practising, playing and walking 18 holes. This level is ideal for golfers looking to improve golf-specific strength, reduce recurring injury problems, address physical weaknesses or continue progressing their rehabilitation while getting back to golf.
Golf Performance
For golfers ready to progress beyond foundational strength. Training develops higher-level strength, power, rotational capacity and force production, with programming designed to support goals such as increasing club head speed and driving distance, improving physical performance and maintaining your capacity throughout a full round.
Your injury doesn't have to put your golf training on hold.
If you're currently rehabing an injury, your rehabilitation can be incorporated directly into your program. Whether you're managing lower back pain, golfer's elbow, shoulder pain, hip or knee problems, or returning to golf following surgery, exercises can be modified and progressed around your individual presentation.
Your program starts with you.
Before commencing, you'll complete an individual physiotherapy assessment. We'll discuss your golf, injury history and goals, assess relevant mobility and strength, establish your starting measures and determine which program level is most appropriate for you.
You'll also be taken through your individual exercises before your first semi-private session, so you know exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it.
You'll then complete eight 45-minute semi-private sessions, with a maximum of two golfers training at any one time.
At the end of your eight sessions, an individual 1:1 physiotherapy review is included in your program fee. We'll repeat relevant measures — including strength testing where appropriate — assess your progress, revisit your goals and adjust your program to determine your next step.
Whether you want to return to golf after injury, improve your golf mobility, build strength, increase club head speed, feel less fatigued over 18 holes or improve your physical performance on the course, we'll meet you where you are and progressively build from there.
Do I Need a Referral?
In most cases, no referral is required to see a physiotherapist. Melbourne Golf Physio is a private physiotherapy clinic, so you can generally book directly without seeing your GP or specialist first. If you've been referred by a doctor, surgeon or other healthcare professional, please bring any relevant referral letters, scan reports or medical information to your appointment. If you're unsure whether you need a referral, contact us before you book.
What's Included in Your Appointment?

- Dry needling
- Sports taping and supportive taping techniques

All clinically appropriate assessment and treatment provided during your consultation is included in your appointment fee, with no hidden extras.
Private Health Insurance
Our services may be eligible for rebates through private health insurance, depending on your level of cover and individual policy. Tyro facilities are available at both our Brighton – Bay Street Specialist Centre and Brighton East clinics, allowing eligible patients claim their rebate immediately at the time of payment. Rebates vary between insurers and policies, so we recommend checking with your health fund before your appointment to confirm your level of cover and expected rebate.
Preferred Provider
Melbourne Golf Physio is not a preferred provider for private health insurance schemes. That's a deliberate choice: our priority is giving every patient the time and personalised care they need, rather than working within the constraints preferred provider arrangements often impose.
TAC Claims
Melbourne Golf Physio welcomes patients with approved TAC claims. Appointments are charged at our standard private consultation fee, with gap payment required on the day. The current TAC fee schedule can be found here. You will require a valid referral from your GP to be able to claim benefits under TAC. If you have questions about the process, contact our team before your appointment.
WorkCover Claims
We don't currently process WorkCover claims directly through the WorkCover system. Patients are welcome to attend as private patients, with consultations charged at our standard private fees.
Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans
Patients with a valid GP referral under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan are welcome at Melbourne Golf Physio. Consultations are charged at the standard private fee payable on the day, and we process your Medicare rebate through MyMedicare which lands in your account within 48 hours. If you're unsure whether you're eligible for a CDM Plan, speak with your GP.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a golf physio assessment cost in Melbourne?
Initial consultations at Melbourne Golf Physio start from $185 for a comprehensive 40–45 minute assessment, with 30-minute follow-up consultations from $150. Extended 60-minute consultations are also available for returning clients who need additional time.
The number and frequency of appointments will depend on your injury, goals and progress. We’ll discuss this with you and recommend a treatment and rehabilitation plan based on what you actually need.
If you have private health insurance with physiotherapy extras, you may also be eligible for a rebate depending on your level of cover.
What is Melbourne Golf Physio?
Melbourne Golf Physio is a boutique, golf-specific physiotherapy clinic based in Brighton, led by TPI Certified Physiotherapist Bethany Robson, who brings more than 14 years of clinical experience to every consultation. Whether you're currently playing, have stopped due to injury, or pain is holding your game back, we build a plan to get you back on the course feeling your best.
Why choose Melbourne Golf Physio over a general physiotherapist?
Bethany's assessments are built specifically around the physical demands of the golf swing, combining golf-specific movement screening with research-grade VALD technology and more than 14 years of clinical experience, including work alongside orthopaedic surgeons in the UK. This means treatment addresses the actual cause of your pain or performance limitation, not just the symptom.
What if my injury doesn't improve with treatment?
Our goal is clarity: an early diagnosis and a transparent plan for your recovery. If an injury isn't progressing as desired with conservative treatment, we'll discuss next steps, which may include referral to a trusted sports doctor, orthopaedic specialist or GP, or further imaging depending on your presentation.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring any relevant referrals, reports, imaging (such as MRIs or X-rays) and post-operative letters that help us understand your injury and history. If you're attending under a Medicare CDM Plan, TAC, DVA or WorkCover, bring all associated documents.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Loose, comfortable clothing that allows us to accurately assess the injured area. Shorts are recommended for lower limb injuries; for neck, shoulder or upper limb conditions, women should wear a singlet and men a singlet or T-shirt. Clothing may need to be adjusted during assessment, and your comfort is always the priority.
Still Have a Question?
If you're unsure which appointment suits you, or have questions about insurance, Medicare, TAC or your specific injury, get in touch before booking and we'll help you choose the right appointment.
